Today I was thinking “Why do the photos of the products on other people’s website look so professional?” Since I have some basic Photoshop skills, I went googling and found this tutorial http://blog.advancedphotoshop.co.uk/tutorials/learn-how-to-retouch-your-product-shots-in-photoshop/. Applying the steps selectively, I got the effect I want for my product photo! Here is a glimpse of the before and after of one of the photos.
It has been a busy two weeks as 2014 comes to an end as I tried to do some transcription in Scribie as well as complete some stuffs for the start-up company that I am helping with. I would be travelling for the whole of the coming week so there is a lot to prepare in advance.
I haven’t forgot about the post on the transcription website, Scribie. It will be slightly delayed as I am testing out the website as a reviewer.
Most of the time I am helping out with the start-up company, Fotograft. I was designing and redesigning the logo and cover photo used at Facebook page and Twitter for Christmas and the New Year. Oh and also the post on the day of celebration themselves. The design for Christmas logo, cover page and the celebration post can still be viewed on Facebook. It made me realise that the Photoshop and Illustrator skills that I learnt through the contests at Freelancer.com can help me to complete a lot of other tasks. Do keep a lookout for the designs I do to welcome in 2015! Please provide feedback on the design on how I can improve in future. 🙂
I am very happy that I am busy with the start-up company, Fotograft, because it means that the company is growing. However, the dilemma is that I will have less time for freelancing to earn money since I am helping out with the start-up company FOC. I guess it is time to test my limits and my efficiency.
Let’s toast to thank 2014 for the opportunities it provided and to a more efficient 2015 where I could do my best in both freelancing and in Fotograft!
I have something good to share about my progress in Freelancer.com. I just won a logo/icon design contest! It is a contest for logo/icon design for a game and the reward is $10 AUD. The reward might be small but this is my first achievement in Freelancer.com!
Handover and Award Process
Currently I am in the midst of the handover process. First, both seller and buyer will sign an agreement for transfer of IP rights, then the seller (me) will upload the file(s) (.psd in this case). Now I am waiting for the buyer to verify the files I uploaded or 14 days from the time I uploaded the files, whichever is earlier, before the prize money will be released to me. The whole process in Freelancer.com is quite long so I will update the status in this post as each stage is completed.
It was because of the opportunities in Freelancer.com that I started learning Adobe Photoshop. The learning process is really fun and I am still learning in every project I embarked on. Now I have began learning Adobe Illustrator as I heard it is more powerful than Photoshop! I always thought I am not creative but I have change my mindset. When people say that a person is creative, it just means that creativity comes easily to them. When they say that someone is not creative, it just means that creativity is harder to come to them but not that they are not creative.
Let’s strive forward together! 😀
